Our second Coaches' Meeting will be held Thursday, March 15, at 8 p.m. at the Marblehead Community Center (10 Humphrey Street).
2018 PLAYER EVALUATIONS
Here are more details about our 2018 Evaluation weekend. All Evaluations will be held at the Marblehead High School gym. Players must bring a glove, and water is recommended. Players should show up 10-15 minutes before their time slot begins, to register and get a bib number.
Please note that there are NO alternative evaluation times other than the ones specified below. 8s-12s may switch their DAY of Evaluations, as described below.
Lastly, but importantly -- all batting during Evaluations MUST take place with a 2018-rules-compliant, USABat (USABaseball stickered) bat. Players may bring their own, or we will have bats that are appropriate for each age group.
For any questions or feedback, you may send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
1. BASEBALL 7s
For our "baseball 7s" (DOB 5/1/2010-8/31/2011), The Evaluations will be held (This is the time slot where we have been offering our Winter Workouts to this age, and the 7-year-old Evaluations are basically an extension of the Workouts.) Since there is no Single-A draft, we use these Evaluations to try and create fair and balanced teams in Single-A. If your 7-year-old cannot attend Evaluations, that's fine -- just let us know, please.
2. BASEBALL 8s-12s
Evaluations for all players "baseball age" 8-12 will be held on (last name begins A-L) and (last name begins M-Z). Players should attend during the following times:
: 12s (DOB 5/1/2005-4/30/2006)
: 11s (DOB 5/1/2006-4/30/2007)
: 10s (DOB 5/1/2007-4/30/2008)
: 9s (DOB 5/1/2008-4/30/2009)
: 8s (DOB 5/1/2009-4/30/2010)
Any player is welcome to switch their DAY of Evaluations (in the SAME hour as their age group) by sending an email to email@example.com requesting this switch.
As stated above, there are NO alternative evaluation times. Any player who cannot attend Evaluations (in the time slot for their age on EITHER day) shall be slotted by the MYB Board in the draft for their appropriate age. All 8s who cannot attend Evaluations will play in Single-A; all 11s who cannot attend Evaluations will play in AAA. 8s and 11s who cannot attend Evaluations for a legitimate, documentable injury, illness or other special extenuating circumstance (NOT to include the player's healthy participation in another athletic competition or practice) should contact the MYB Board.
3. BASEBALL 13s-15s
There are no Evaluations for our Raimo and Babe Ruth players. They are placed on a team.

by: Marblehead Youth Baseball
As mandated by Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken, in conjunction with Little League, AAU, and many other youth baseball organizations, Marblehead Youth Baseball will be adopting the USABat standard effective for all bats used in the 2018 season.
The purpose of the USABat standard is to standardize on a more wood-like performance, while still retaining the durability and swingability (especially for our younger players) of lighter-weight materials. It is important to note that the new USABat bats for our Cal Ripken-aged players (7-12) will now feature a bigger 2 5/8" barrel.
ONLY bats marked with the USABat logo will be approved for use in MYB in 2018. (Players aged 13-15 -- our Raimo and Babe Ruth leagues -- may also still use bats marked with the BBCOR .50 specification.)
For more information behind and regarding this change, see the following links:
Bat Rules (has chart with 2018 rules): https://www.baberuthleague.
As you will learn from these links, it is the intention of bat manufacturers to have USABat-marked bats available for purchase after . It is also MYB's plan to ensure that each team in 2018 has at least one team-issued bat that meets the USABat standard.
